During my internship with the Governor M. Jodi Rell Center for Public Service, I was responsible for helping develop social media content and promote the Center’s programming. One of our major events was a workshop at the Greater Hartford Civility Summit focused on intergenerational conversations around technology, social media, connection, and curiosity.
I had to not only help make sure the workshop was successful in person, but also ensure that our programming reflected the Center’s mission of advancing civility through courageous conversations.
I took initiative and developed promotional and post-event content, helped facilitate the workshop, and worked alongside fellow interns, students, and a Rell Center board member. I focused on making the messaging engaging and accessible while staying consistent with the organization’s voice and mission.
The workshop was successfully organized and facilitated, and we were able to highlight the Center’s involvement through social media afterward. The experience demonstrated my ability to take ownership of a project, collaborate with different people, communicate effectively, and turn an event into a broader communications opportunity.
